robert longo

robert longo is an american artist with works in major museums around the world including the art institute right here in chicago. these drawings (yes drawings, cause you thought they were photographs) are part of an exhibition going on in paris now titled – god machines.

macanudo

i've come to appreciate comics much more as a art form. macanudo is one of my favorites. obviously in spanish, its from argentina and published in a newspaper called la nación. the artist ricardo siri liniers, better know as just liniers, has several books and has done album covers for singer kevin johansen. his humor is subtle and makes you think.   

Ray Caesar

ray caesar is an english artist, transplanted to canada who digitally creates his pieces. they're sometimes hard to swallow but very beautiful as well. kinda of in the grain of mark ryden, but darker. maybe that comes from the fact that ray spent 17 years working in the photo department of toronto's hospital for sick children. i'm partial to the jellyfish. he was interviewed recently by the Ministry of Artistic Affairs: http://blog.ministryofartisticaffairs.com/2011/02/exhibition-ray-caesars-gentle-cruelty.html

SZE TSUNG LEONG

i can across sze tsung leong a couple of weeks ago. his landscape photography is pretty amazing. and he is about as diverse as his photos - american and british, born in mexico city, grew up in la, lives in nyc...
