saul bass
reading the paper today about united updating their chicago terminal with their new continental logo, i got the urge to explore the work of their current and long time logo's creator - graphic designer saul bass. the list of famous logos he can take credit for is quite long and his movie posters, like the one below, are iconic.

seher shah
given the news that routinely filters our way from south asia, one can forget that there is a lot more there than meets the eye. one of the most interesting artists i've come across over this past year hails from pakistan and makes up a contingent of growing pakistani women on the art scene. a little architecture, a little drawing, works for me. find more at:

mara metcalf
the internet is a funny thing. i stumbled upon, well not really a stumble, i googled her. so i googled my drawing teacher from the museum school, mara metcalf, and i really love the pieces that i found. mara wouldn't remember me but i remember feeling in her class that i really maybe had something to say, that was worth listening to, or as the case may be looking at. a line has meaning.
