francisco zúñiga was a costa rican and mexican artist. his paintings, sculptures and drawings are all one of a kind but i like the drawings best by far. mostly figure drawings, they are simple and soft and really incredibly expressive. i think there is something almost meditative about them. check out the francisico zúñiga foundation at: http://www.franciscozuniga.org/
i came across lu cong (american/living in denver) earlier this week and think his portraits are amazing. i'm always jealous of painters. i've never really painted so not knowing how this type of thing happens (as if it really happens as all) impresses me. sensual, unnerving tempting, i want one on my wall.

i'm loving the work of james marshall - aka - dalek and this video from NC. he went to the art institute here in chicago as well and worked for takashi murakami, the japanese superflat king!
